Hanner Perea 6'8" 215 pound Power Forward out of LaLumiere Committed to Indiana University, Class of 2012 Hoopside rating: 89.5 Offensive: 85 Defensive: 96 Size: 88.8 Athleticism: 100 Intangibles: 84 IQ: 83
Overview: Hanner is the most athletic Power Forward since Shawn Kemp. As of this point, his offensive and defensive abilities are bolstered by the fact that he is so athletic. You can see his insane ability to jump by clicking here (touches 12'2" off of 2 steps). I would like to see his skills develop either more into a small forward, or put on some more weight to become a true post presence. I am not completely sold on his skill set, as I think that a majority of his points, rebounds, and blocks come purely of him being able to jump higher than anyone on the high school court that he is playing with (although, to be fair, I think he can jump higher than anyone on a college court, too). Oh, yeah, hes only a junior. Comparison: I would liken him to Tyrus Thomas in college, full of athleticism, just needs to refine his skill set. Notes: Hanner was born in Colombia, and transferred to LaLumiere this season. -- A "Team Photo" was released where LaLumiere had 3 players, all listed at 6'9" (Perea included) standing next to eachother, and opposite Perea was a player listed at 6'6". Long story short, the players listed at 6'9" towered over Perea, and those players themselves were listed at 6'7" just a season ago, and the player listed at 6'6" seemed to edge out Perea a little bit, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and call it 6'7". Also, his production isn't what was anticipated. The kid can make an unequaled highlight film, sure. The last 2 games that I got to check on Perea, however, he finished with 13 points and 9 points. Athletically? Impressive. Statistically? Not so much. I would really enjoy seeing him get 25 points 20 rebounds and 15 blocks a game. And with his NBA All-Star level of athleticism, its a wonder why he isn't doing something like that right now. |
